| DANCING
WORDS residencies and
performances use movement and theater
to help bring poetry to life, allowing for a deeper understanding and
appreciation of poetry. Programs range from a 1-hour
interactive performance to multi-day/multi-week
residencies, and are available for whole classrooms, teachers &
staff, small groups and/or parents. In shorter residencies, students
work primarily with generating material, playing with different ways
of coming into writing and/or dancing, and exploring ways of using their
bodies to support and inspire their words. In longer residencies students
work more on returning to and developing the work they’ve generated,
crafting the written word on paper, bringing the poems into their bodies
through performance and sharing, and/or developing and fine-tuning the
dances they’ve made.
