COMMENTS FROM STUDENTS ABOUT A DANCING WORDS RESIDENCYI liked this residency because: I got to learn a little bit about poetry but not just by studying from
books… my students really enjoyed participating in the program. They truly
got into expressing themselves through movement and poetry… One thing I know about poetry and dance that I didn’t know before is… if provoked, joy can be seen… poetry can be about impossible things… you can make dance out of poetry and words… that poetry isn’t always words, it is movement also… how easy and fun it was to let the wacky side of me out… words don’t come from thinking of something hard. You just let
your imagination go and something will come to you… anything else? It was pretty fun and unexplainably interesting… I wish we could do it every day!… I learned that even though you act like a looney sometimes, it can
build your self-esteem... One thing that happened this week surprised me. In this class I bonded
with people and became better friends. This surprised me because I thought
I was going to be lonely the whole week but that changed. One thing I liked about this dance class is that you never knew what
you were going to do next. Also, I never acted like a monkey before.
What I liked about this was that we always did exciting things. I learned
that you can do or be anything. |
